i really lucked out in life. i got a great dad. a dad that, bless his heart, has four girls (five if you count stella). he has spent the last 27 years of his life having his ears talked off by any one of us. he has attended hundreds of games, built many a toy, and sat through countless trampoline or dance routines that were born out of genius (or boredom).
we all really love our dad.
especially stella. she waits all day for my dad to come home and then she doesn't leave his side. we never thought he would fall for a little dog, but she could be his favorite child.
one thing is for sure...dads are tough to buy for. every time we ask him what he wants he shrugs us off with a "nothing". we really contemplated what to get him this year... my mom suggested a smaller tool box that he could take on trips. you know... just in case. so that's what we got. we filled it with the essentials - nilla waffers and ginger snaps.
we also got him a really fun saw. you never know when you'll need a battery operated saw. you could cut small tree branches off, or you could make fun shapes out of cardboard. the possibilities are really just endless. here he is anxiously awaiting to find out what his doting children picked out for him....
and here he is after. notice he isn't really smiling. just in case you were wondering what words he used to show his heartfelt appreciation they were..."i don't want to hurt your feelings, but did you save your receipt?"
to which i replied..."i don't want to hurt your feelings, but i actually bought it for myself."
